Are you guilty of praying about a situation but then negatively speaking about it? For example, you are praying for healing from a life-threatening illness, deliverance from an addiction, or being able to forgive someone. Then no sooner when you end your prayer, you find yourself saying that it will never happen. It seems that deep down, we do not believe that Yah will answer our prayers.
There is a story of three brothers who prayed for rain. The men prayed earnestly for rain, but when they left their homes, only one of them brought an umbrella. The two brothers questioned the one with the umbrella, “Why on earth would you bring your umbrella when the sun is shining, and the weather is beautiful without any sign of rain?” The man looked confused and said, “But my brothers, did we not just pray for rain? Do you not believe that it is going to rain? I believe that the rain is coming!”
Are you like the two brothers or the one that brought his umbrella?
In other words, when you pray, do you firmly believe that your prayer will be answered? Or do you find yourself doubting?
If you doubt, then you are sabotaging your prayers. You cannot hold belief and doubt at the same time; one will always override the other. You have to choose one or the other. And our scripture text in James 1:5-8 says if you doubt you are like a double-minded man and you will not receive anything from the Lord.
How can you stop sabotaging your prayers? By feeding your faith and starving your doubt. Try following these three simple steps:
- Read your Word. There are countless examples of Yah’s faithfulness in His Word.
- Put your faith into action. The more you apply the Word in your life, the stronger your faith becomes.
- Trust in Yah’s faithfulness. If He said it – it is going to happen. Again, find the example in His Word and follow it!
- Let go. Letting go is by far the hardest thing to do! But there is no need to try and control the situation, manipulate other people, or even worry about how it will turn out. Yah knows what He is doing – let go and trust in Him.
My sister, Yah, loves you, and you can trust Him with every detail of your life. Do not allow the enemy to steal your power by feeding you with doubt. Feed your faith every day by staying in the Word and allowing it to be the light that guides you.
