Are we too busy to pray?

Why in the world does the Bible say that we are to pray without ceasing? And how is that even possible with our busy over packed schedules and responsibilities? Isn’t this a bit aspirational?

All the right questions!

I believe that Yah knew that we would be living in a crazy dark world that would overcome us if we do not learn how to pray all of the time. I call it creating a lifestyle of prayer, where prayer becomes your lifeline. You see, we will never outgrow our need for prayer as we will not ever need air and food.

Prayer is the very breath that we breathe in.

But, again, how is this possible with our busy over packed schedules and responsibilities? Does it mean that we have to stop doing some things that we enjoy to pray? Does it mean that we have to cut out our favorite reality show? Or stop scrolling through one of our many social media sites? Maybe – you will want to, but you don’t have to get started.

You see 1 Thessalonians 5:17 is not talking about getting on your knees and bowing down for hours in prayer. Nor is it referring to being in your prayer closet all day and never coming out to live your life.

It is talking about the position of your heart and your mindset. It is about allowing the Word of Yahweh to direct how you live. It is about how you resolve conflict and emotional distress. It is about how you spend your money, your time, and what you do daily.

It is only possible to pray without ceasing when your mind stays continuously on our Messiah. And yes, I am a witness that this is possible. I am always in an ongoing conversation with Yah and Yahshua every day. There are moments when I wake up in the middle of the night to pray, then getting up early to spend more time praying. I am talking to Yah while I am getting dressed, driving down the street, and yes, while I am listening to others. I am praying long prayers and short prayers, like, Lord, keep me safe or Lord, help me. You get the point.

So, to answer your questions. It is not aspirational to pray without ceasing. And it is not only possible, but it is necessary if you want to live a victorious and abundant life right now. And who doesn’t want that?
